Pepper Spray Cop vs Batman by Faezal

This was done for our previous theme, Pepper Spray Cop vs Superhero, and luckily it coincide with this week's theme: Joker. Phew...

This awkward scenario happened when Joker was caught red handed doing some unspeakable villainy. Batman leaped and Joker sprayed him with the Pepper Spray.

"Arrghhh... Damn you Joker!"
"Blind as a bat, Heh Batman?"

Pepper Spray Cop takes on....GALACTUS by Sheldon Goh

Right-click and download to see it at full size. In case you can't be bothered, here's a detail of the scan:

Super Skrull by Sheldon Goh

So tonight was Draw Night again at Earth638 and took the opportunity to do a bit of DrawLAAHHH catchup. It was Marvel night, so I did this Super Skrull piece. It was actually the second Super Skrull piece I did tonight. The first was crap, so I took it home and destroyed it. I was a bit happier with this one. :)

Hero VS Pepper Spray by Alan Quah

This week's topic is "loosely or was it" based on the recent moronic pepper spray incident in certain a free country. My thoughts on this...

80's X-Men catch-up: Storm by Sheldon Goh

So yeah, I finally made some time to make a dent in my DrawLAAHHH backlog. The 80's were a very special time in comics, with an explosion of some truly amazing superhero comic book stories and the Uncanny X-Men were the vanguard of that. I especially remember fondly the artwork of John Romita JR and Paul Smith (I came onboard after John Byrne left, but rediscovered his run later through reprints in Classic X-Men) and of course, those stories by the legendary Chris Claremont.

A couple of the standout stories from that time period though, were illustrated by the great Barry Windsor Smith. His Wolverine-and-Katie-Power-versus-Lady-Deathstrike issue was classic. As was the great LifeDeath.

So anyway, here's mohawk Storm, quintessential 80's X-Men.

Power Girl from Draw Night by Sheldon Goh

Heh, so I'm playing catch up on the last few DrawLAAHHH topics. Tonight (11/11/11) was Draw Night at Earth 638 and the topic of the evening was "DC Comics", so I took the opportunity to do the Power Girl piece I missed out on.

The original drawing I did at the comic store needed a bit of tweaking, so after making those adjustments (okay okay, I had to make her boobs bigger!), here she is. Click for the full-sized pic.

PowerGirl vs Superman by Faezal

Here we go! PowerGirl punching (did I say kicking before?) another Kryptonian's face!

Again, I'm totally ignorant about PowerGirl. I thought that she was just another character that happened to be super strong and have the ability to fly. From my quick lesson, I learned that she was also another survivor from the Planet Kryton II and she crashed landing in Planet Earth II (while Superman landed on our planet), that's like another dimension of our universe or something. I've seen her character around and seen her drawn by some artists, but that's as far as my awareness of her existence goes. So here's my take on last week's theme.

Pencil on Moleskine.

Modesty Blaise 2nd attempt by Alan Quah

Got myself a new Ipad app, Procreate last night. Quite fun to sketch with actually, almost as good as Sketchbook Pro with the little extra in brush responsiveness. This sketch came about from the experiment. A new Modesty Blaise sketch.

Dark Phoenix by LWY

Dark Phoenix is from the 1980's X-Men... right? Anyway, pardon the lack of background detail. I'll be honest; I got lazy!

Storm vs Sentinel by Faezal

Oh dear, we are already on new topic this week? Crazy deadlines were looming last week, so this topic were put on hold for more than a week!

I love the X-Men in the 80's. That's when I was introduced to the world of American comics, and X-men will always be my personal favorite. I love most X-Men characters in the 80s because they all had distinctive styles, especially the women. Big hairdo, high waist jeans, loop ear rings, etc... and among all, Storm had a mohawk in a punk goth outfit! how cool was that?!

So here is my take on Storm in the 80's... pencil on Moleskine.

Cheers!
Faezal.

Next, Powergirl is gonna kick another fellow Kryptonian's face!

This week's topic is Modesty Blaise, tried my best to capture her elegance but I think I failed. Anyway...

Drawlaahhh on Facebook!

Joining the social media :)

We have twitter and now Facebook!

Now if we can figure out how to simultaneously post new drawings/announcements to either....

Watch this space :)

This week's theme. Xmen from the 80s. Lefty's choice :)

The Fountain by Faezal

"Spanning over one thousand years, and three parallel stories, The Fountain is a story of love, death, spirituality, and the fragility of our existence in this world" as written on imdb google search. Directed by Darren Aronofsky starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz.

You bet the film is a mind bending experience. And the fact that Kent Williams illustrating the graphic novel adaptation (published by DC/Vertigo) is like a dream come true. And this is my take on the theme for last week.

Drawlaahh artists are at the Comics Are Cool! event this weekend!

The Drawlaahh artists will be at Earth638 this weekend! Come and join us :)

FB event page.

It is going to be awesome! :)

Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing by Sheldon Goh

Here we gooooo -- so this week's topic (as chosen by Karen :) was "any character from a Huge Ackman Hugh Jackman movie". For an extra challenge, I did my best to stay clear of Wolverine/Weapon X, so I went with Van Helsing instead. I haven't seen the movie, but it was a pretty fun character to draw. :)

Major Zombie vs Orang Mutan by Faezal

Another signature landing of Major Zombie... right on the side of the Orang Mutan's face!

Orang Mutan was an idea that I had for a side villain in my previous Major Zombie story. It was basically a pumped-up-mutant-cyborg's version of Orang Utan. Unfortunately, the character didn't make it into the pages because the character required lot of pages (even the character itself occupied lot of space on a page). So we scraped the idea, and I never get to spend time visualizing it on paper.

After having the idea of him floating around for a while, well this is (sort of...) how I imagine the Orang Mutan would be.

MZ Coming In For A Landing! by Sheldon Goh

WOOOT! I've wanted to draw Major Zombie coming in for a landing ever since I saw it in a Major Zombie comic book. The trademark landing pose is a classic and I hope I did it justice here. Click for a larger version.

Major Zombie is a Malaysian comic book created by Lefty of Gilamon Studio and you can find out more about the comic and it's awesome cast of characters by checking out MajorZombie.com and the Major Zombie Facebook page

The Authority: Jenny Quantum vs The Main Man by Faezal

I have to admit that I am truly ignorant about The Authority Universe. I have seen them around, but I never actually had the chance to read them. However, I stumbled upon this story when Keith Giffen, Alan Grant & Simon Bisley did Lobo/The Authority: Holiday Hell crossover special. One of the oddest, funniest and bloodiest story I've ever read. In this issue, Jenny Quantum (the successor of late Jenny Sparks) was a walking talking toddler that believed Lobo The Main Man have killed Santa Claus.

Jenny Quantum went head to head with the Main Man, guess who's kicking who's butt? Guess again...
